Make sure you are using a digital format such as a Mini DV Camera, Digital Camera, or the Black Berry. Web Cameras are not recommended as they tend to distort the image. You will need to send us your finalized video in any of the following formats: .avi, .mpeg 1&2, .mov, .wmv, .flv, .3gp, 3g2. Note that recording with your black berry device produceIf we are to do the editing, we accept .avi, .mpeg 1&2, .mov, .wmv. Although .mp4, .flv, .3gp, & 3g2 are possible to edit, it is not recommended because they are finalized already, and therefore highly compressed files. Decompressing these file types for editing and then recompressing them again will degregate the video considerably.
Prepare your 30-60 second script ( usually 30 seconds will fit on an 8 1/2 X 11 lined paper, double spaced ). Know your script ahead of the scheduled recording time. It is vital you know what you are going to say and have it sound natural. Go over your script again and again until your script becomes fluid.
If you are having a stumbling block....find out at what point you stopped. Take a deep breath and create a key word list. This is a very effective method only if you have practiced your script and have become familiar with it. The key word list is then taped to the bottom of the webcam or camera. The paper should not be visible in the view finder or in the picture. If you have someone to help you, ask them to go over your script with you.
Once you are familiar with your script, next, choose your clothing carefully. NO stripes, NO large patterns, NO black or white shirts, tops or jackets. Red is a difficult color on camera but can work well as an accent color. So choose a neutral color and accent with a pleasing bright color or pattern, such as a tie, scarf or jacket. Blues, olive greens, yellows, tans are usually all safe choices. Be sure to do a test recording. Make sure your web cam or your camera is level, viewing you, straight on and not pointing upward or downward.
IMPORTANT! GET RID OF CLUTTER that may be seen in your video! Be sure to pay major attention to the background and whatever else is in the viewfinder! If you have a product to show, have it easy for you to pick up and show to the camera. Practice showing it to the camera in test videos.
Use a digital camera either on a tripod or, you can also set it up in a chair. Alternatively, and being careful to have the camera stable and safe, put the camera on something to elevate it...just be sure to have your camera level and even with your face. Do not leave a lot of head room, so you don't look tiny....make sure what you see in the viewfinder is a full picture, framing from your head to waist / bust.
It important to have the camera close to you, so your sound will be acceptable and pleasing to the ear. Either a head or head to waist/bust shot will be the best look.
If for some reason you preferred not to do the video yourself, contact a local videographer and ask them to shoot a 30-60 second spot. Or call a wedding photographer or your local high school / college - they may have a film school where a student or students may help you.
Check with our video department if you would like a professional video. Prices will vary depending on volume. If you have an office such as an insurance company or auto dealership contact us for discounted pricing.
