Flag Lowering Ceremonies to Resume on Friday NightsThe new owner of the Captains home, Andy Cooper, was so touched by the Veterans Day ceremonies, that he would like for us to continue to hold them. Jay & I were able to talk with him that morning at length while getting the flagpole re-lined for the flag, and Andy was very excited to hear about the "funky corner". He is extremely interested in the history of the Captain and is learning as much as he can about his life, and has created a website to contain all of the archives about the Captain at http://captainstyles.info/. We will hold the ceremonies on Friday nights for now, like we were doing prior to the home selling, Siesta Key Flagpole Dedication to the Captain 11/11/09A dedication of the flagpole at the gazebo in Siesta Key Village honoring the late Captain Ralph Styles will be held November 11, 2009 at 6:30pm at Canal and Ocean Blvd. Thanks to the graciousness of the new owner of the property, Andy Cooper, we will be holding the traditional flag ceremony at sunset (5:40pm) at the Captain's former home prior to the dedication.
